- Must be a graduating high school senior
- U.S. citizen or legal resident
- Must be a Shelby County (TN) resident
- Plan to attend an accredited 2 year or 4 year university or accredited and certified trade school within the U.S., in a full-time degree or certification seeking program for the first time
- Must have a GPA of at least 2.25 on a 4.0 scale
- Minimum ACT/SAT not required
- Students pursuing any degree are encouraged to apply
- Letter of recommendation from one of your high school teachers or counselor
- Applicants must choose one of the following prompts and submit a 500 word essay:
- 1) Gun violence continues to impact teenagers and their communities across the U.S. In an essay, discuss the root causes of gun violence among teens and propose at least two strategies schools, families, or communities can implement to help prevent.
- 2) Teenagers have powerful voices and the ability to influence change. In an essay, explain specifically how youth leadership, advocacy, and positive role models can hep reduce gun violence among teens.
- Minimum 500 words, no more than 520 words.
- All finalists will have an in-person interview.
